NorthBase joins 5G-EMERGE as it advances towards its second phase. The research initiative’s expanding consortium now includes over 30 companies and research organizations from all across Europe. 5G-EMERGE’s goals include utilizing satellites with 5G networks for seamless and fast delivery of live and on-demand content. Increased accessibility along with enhanced quality and speed should revolutionize content distribution for broadcasters. The project represents a future-ready solution for media organizations, telecom operators and policymakers looking to meet the rising demands for sustainable, widespread accessibility and robust network resilience.
The second phase expands from the preparations, checks, framework development and validations of phase 1 to providing services and solutions for market needs. The members of the consortium are committed to continue developing key areas such as interactive edge-casting services for online video platforms, 5G orchestration, edge security, caching optimization and service monitoring, alongside antennas optimized for home use, nomadic applications, and vehicles, as well as cloud backhauling, 5G network integrations, gateways, and other essential solutions.
